ONE GREAT DAY FUNDRAISER BY THISTLES, STIRLING GENERATES OVER £785

Thistles, Stirling was the scene of fundraising fun at the weekend as part of the nationwide One Great Day initiative.

Taking place within the centre, the day included face painting, balloon modelling and an afternoon tea party and raised over £785 with proceeds benefiting Aberlour Children’s Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Thistles Centre Director Gary Turnbull swapped his suit for sportswear as he ‘pedalled for proceeds’ on static bikes courtesy of Pure Gym in Paisley, with shoppers invited to join him!

The day served as a warm up for Gary who will, on Thursday the 13th of June, be cycling 100 miles in one day from Bournemouth to Brighton as an additional fundraiser for the two charities.

Speaking about the afternoon, Gary said;

“Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our One Great Day fundraiser at Thistles. The atmosphere was wonderful and through the generosity of shoppers we raised a fantastic £785 in the space of only a few hours.”

Kim Carey, Service Manager at Aberlour Family Support Centre – Langlees added;

“Many thanks to all involved on the day for raising a fantastic amount of money for a worthwhile cause.  Our service in Langlees will make use of this money, enabling our children and families to access supported outings with lunches provided over the summer months.“
