FREE FAMILY FUN ARRIVES AT THISTLES THIS SUMMER

Thistles welcomed charity, Scottish Sports Futures to an exclusive opportunity to have the first play of its new nine-hole course

Thistles shopping centre in Stirling has officially opened its brand new, free to play ‘Around the World’ nine-hole mini golf. Open each day until 31 July between 12noon – 4pm, keen golfers can come along and try their hand at the latest golf course in town.

Thistles has partnered with Glasgow based charity, Scottish Sports Futures who work with communities across the country to offer a range of activities and workshops to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and families, empowering them to be confident, healthy, and happy. With a base in Stirling, as well as other regions across the country, the charity supports local youths aged between 11 – 15 years making it the perfect charity partner for the latest #ThistlesHelps campaign

As a continued effort in its #ThistlesHelps campaigns Scottish Sports Futures were invited to have the first chance to play the course which takes you Around the World, golfing your way past iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and two of the seven wonders of the world as you putt across the Great Wall of China and through the Great Pyramids of Giza.

With the 150th Open in St Andrews kicking off next week, those looking to attend and try their hand at taking the top spot on Thistles’ podium can find the course at two main areas in the mall, outside HMV and Boots, with no need for advance booking – anyone can come along and tee off.

Gary Turnbull, Centre Director at Thistles, said: “We were thrilled to give the children at Scottish Sports Futures the first chance to play at the new course in the centre. The event is the first of its kind that we’ve done at Thistles and we are excited to get the community involved to see who tops the leader board.”

“We have had a strong focus on our #ThistlesHelps campaign this year and we recognised the great work Scottish Sports Futures are doing not just in Stirling but across Scotland as a whole and we were delighted to work with them on this event.

Neal Herbert, East Central Manager at Scottish Sports Future, said: “It is great to be working in partnership with Thistles Stirling to promote physical activity and we were delighted that young people involved with SSF were able to ‘tee off’ the event. This partnership not only provides our young people with activity over the summer, it also helps to increase their physical activity levels at no cost which has never been more needed!”

For those looking for summer holiday fun on a budget or a nice break in between a shopping spree at Thistles, the brand new Around the World nine-hole mini golf course makes for the perfect day out and fun for all.
