THISTLES WELCOMES FREE SUMMER MINI GOLF FUN

People of all ages are invited to play a brand-new nine-hole mini golf course at Thistles shopping centre, Stirling, this July

Explore some of the world’s most iconic landmarks and monuments this summer at Thistles with the addition of a new, free, nine-hole mini golf course.

Coming to the shopping centre in the heart of Stirling from 4 – 31 July, the Around the World mini golf course will be open from 12noon – 4pm each day, inviting people of all ages to try their hand at conquering the course.

Opening in time for the 150th Open, which takes place in nearby St Andrews, Around the World promises friends, families and competitive couples four fun-filled weeks to compete against one another and stage their very own mini golf championship.

The immersive course consists of nine holes and takes you around iconic landmarks across the world, as you putt your way past the likes of Big Ben, The Great Wall of China and the Eiffel Tower. Participants can also swap their golfing visors for their thinking caps and take part in a general knowledge quiz about the nine iconic sites making their way to Thistles while they putt.

Continuing its efforts to support the local community through its #ThistlesHelps campaign, Thistles has also partnered with Scottish Sports Futures to raise money for the national charity through donations during the free event.

Founded in Glasgow, Scottish Sports Futures works with communities across the country to offer a range of activities and workshops to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and families, empowering them to be confident, healthy, and happy. With a base in Stirling, as well as other regions across the country, the charity supports local young people aged between 11 – 15 years.

Keen golfers can find the course located at two main areas in the mall, outside HMV and outside Boots, with the course open between 12noon – 4pm daily and no need for advance booking.

Gary Turnbull, Centre Director at Thistles, said: “This is the first event of its kind at the centre and we’re really pleased to be able to offer something so different and engaging completely free of charge to the public during the summer holidays.

“Throughout the year we have had a great focus on our #ThistlesHelps campaign, supporting charities that have a great impact on the local area and we are delighted to be partnering with Scottish Sports Futures for this event.

Neal Herbert, East Central Manager at Scottish Sports Future, said: “It is great to be working in partnership with Thistles to promote physical activity within the community throughout the summer holidays. This partnership not only provides our young people with activity over the summer, it also helps to increase their physical activity levels at no cost which has never been more needed!”

The Around the World nine-hole mini golf event will take place from 4 – 31 July at Thistles, Stirling, between 12noon – 4pm, free of charge. For more information about Thistles or the event please visit www.thistlesstirling.com
